Southington Cut Co handle material

I got this knife the other day on an auction. It looks like these were made late 1800s to early 1900s. Could someone help me with what the handle material is? Here are some pictures. Thanks for your help! I am learning slowly about knives but enjoy it

What appears to be a doctor or physicians knife is covered in Mother of Pearl.
Southington Cutlery Co. 1867- 1905 ...............

Beautiful knife! I agree, that looks like MOP to me too. My copy of Goins indicates Southington used that tang stamp from 1867 to 1905. I wish that I could offer to patch that missing piece of pearl for you, but so far I haven't haven't been able to match MOP the way I can with bone chips. Attached is a pic of a Case & Sons pearly that that I recently tried to patch. As you can see, I need to work on perfecting my pearl patches!

Thanks to you both! I think is a neat old knife and I wish the handle was in better shape! Herbva- that looks pretty good
