Camillus 14 with new clothes

Here's another Camillus short line knife that I had with one handle missing...They were the old "staked-on" Delrin type (not pinned), so I just hammered (gently!) the tabs down and filed them flush, and glued the handles on. The main blade was tipped about 1/16", so I re-profiled it so it fits nicely when the blade is folded in. The material is an acrylic that (I think) I procured on eBay a while back. Polished up quite nicely. My Ruth says it reminds her of the '50s, so I suppose it is the correct vintage for this knife...

That does look nice! At first I thought you were showing "before" pics and I thought to myself, "they don't make 'em like that anymore."
Glad to be proven wrong by your cool retro handles!

That's different. Looks like you did a good job.

Amongst other patterns, I'm hooked on #14s. They don't normally fetch a big price so I'm sore tempted every time I see one up for sale. I really don't need another one because right now I have several+. ::facepalm::

Maybe I should have 1 or 2 of them re handled in something nifty. ::hmm::

This is the first one I've had. I'm usually tending toward slightly bigger folders, but this is a great little pattern. If I do another one, I should probably try to pin the handles--but this was quick and easy, and it won't see hard use.

Lol! Yes, I can see that. And it's probably not a good material for a working knife, as the white wouldn't stay white for very long. But perhaps it will make a good Sunday-go-to-meeting knife.

Very cool (and creative) restoration on that knife! No need for pinning the new scales if: 1. you are happy with the outcome, and 2. the new scales stay put. :D

I an hoping that on a knife with bolsters they will stay put pretty well. I discovered (the hard way) that glued-on scales are not good if the knife doesn't have bolsters--one nice drop and the scale can go it's own direction. Won't do that again...
