Western v44

Hello i cam across this knife at a sale and wondering if it should have other markings. Should it have another stamp somewhere? I only see the "Western".

Here’s a post by one of the resident Western and military knife collectors here. As you can see in the text he says the knives are stamped with the single word “Western”. Note also he says the name V44 is incorrect but commonly used. viewtopic.php?f=81&t=54880&p=613103&hilit=V44#p613103

I don’t recall ever seeing one in person but it’s fairly easy to find pictures online. Which are marked like yours.

What you have is a scarce WW2 era Western made for USAAF bail out kits for planes flying over jungle areas, like in the Pacific theater. These were made by Collins, Case, Kinfolks, and Western, with the Western like yours the hardest to find. Very cool knife. You also have the correct sheath which is different than the sheaths used by the three other makers of these knives.

Cool. Im selling it and hope i didnt start it to low on my auction. I see them selling in the 300-600 range.
