Rescued Western

Recently found a couple knives at an antique store . One was a nice little K-Bar that looked almost new .
The other was a really abused looking Western, hunter? , anyway the 39 pattern which I really like . I wish I’d have taken a pic of it before I cleaned it up cause it was pretty disgusting. I almost passed on it , but did I mention I really like that pattern ? It had some kind of black tar looking stuff on the blade and gray epoxy looking stuff on the handle, and big chunks hacked into the blade edge . Clearly it had been in the possession of a monster .
As I was placing it back on the shelf , I thought it was so cheap I oughta just take it home and maybe use it as a beater since it’s already beaten up and did I mention I like that pattern ? So I brought it home and gave it some love and this ugly duckling has turned into a beautiful swan . Ok , a little much , but it cleaned up real nice and took an edge that’s just great !
I need to fix the sheath ,and I got a happy new carry knife!
