Schrade Model 206 Barlow

I've been looking at these for awhile trying to find one with decent blades at a reasonable cost. I finally came across one this week. I really like the fancy bolsters but the odd orange delrin handles really didn't go with the knife (in my opinion anyway).

- Stock orange handles
I just did a basic cleanup and put some new mahogany colored American standard jigged bone handles on it.
I was debating on whether to clean up the blades but decided to leave them as-is for now.
Thanks for looking!
Jeff

It looks good as it is but some folks don't appreciate patina.

Yeah, I think it was TripleF who said “Shiny Sells”. I can always refinish the blades later if I decide to go that way.

I LOVE the new pants on an otherwise dull barlow !
If I may offer an opinion .. .. ..
You shined up the bolsters quite well, and made the scrollwork really pop. The bone handles complement
that shine . But the patina on the blades detract from the gorgeous marriage of bone to bolsters.
Perhaps shine the blades so that it all 'matches' and allow it to re-patina (is that a word?) together.
Just the humble opinion of an admirer of your work . . .

Yep, I am afraid I stand on this side too.
BUT, it's you knife, so do whatever pleases you. I am just one of those guys that is bothered by a tarnished blade.

Thanks all.
I tend to fall into the camp that says badly stained blades should be refreshed. I did a light cleanup of the blades today and it does look better. It revealed a few minor pits but I'm okay with that. And there's a few small stains that resisted my cleanup efforts so they get to stay.

- Lightly refreshed blades
