A Foreign Sword???

I fellow I met recently on ebay sent me pics of a couple swords someone brought him to sell on ebay. The seller has been to AAPK before and has said some nice things about AAPK.

I am posting the pics for him, in hopes that someone may have an idea as to the origins of these two swords. There are several pics so I will put them in two posts.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what these are & where they are from?

Orvet, Those are just incredible. Knife7Knut probably knows something about them. There are some good books available on swords, but I don't have any. Look really old to me.

Dale,

Thanks for posting those.

Hi everybody. I joined here a while ago to research some Schrade items. A GREAT informative site.

Actually it is my mom I am going to list these for. She has an antique store and bought these as part of an estate.

I am hoping to find enough info on them to at least get then in the right eBay category.

Thanks,
Russell

Not sure about the first one;it looks European and old.The second appears to be of African origin but I don't know the proper name. There is a site called,"Ethnographic Arms and Armor"
http://www.vikingsword.com.

They should be able to identify both of them.Very knowledgeable people from all over the world.

The one in the wood sheath is made by the Ovambo people from Namibia. It is simply referred to as an "Ovambo Knife".
