$65 Rough Riders ?

A new offering is Rough Rider Reserve. Three R’s
stamped on tang. This knife is D2 steel, micarta scales, and an exceptionally strong backspring.
Comes in a metal tube with a microfiber cloth. I got it at a high end cutlery store. I’ve not seen them offered on any large online knife shops. It’s pricey for Rough Rider but I couldn’t resist. A beautiful knife.

Thanks ! I hadn’t found them online. The store I got it in is over an hours drive.

No offense meant to anyone.
There is about as much of a chance of me paying $65 for a RR as there is a chance of me paying $500 for a GEC.........None.

Oh I'm with you on that David. Personally I don't think there is a knife on the planet I'm going to pay more than $200 for unless it is an antiquity of 300+ years old.

I can agree. I was reluctant on the RR, until I saw how well it was constructed and finished. But my favorites are traditional American made knives such as Case, Queen, Camillus etc.
I have a very few GEC. Got them years ago when they were more reasonable in price. I will not pay the inflated prices they are now.

Well OSCAR, I bought two of the same Common Stock RRR so at least one other member here does not think you're a fool. Stockmans with a cap lifter/flat head screw driver tool substituted for the spey blade are not common. The only other one I can recall was an inexpensive RR offered years ago by SMKW. That RR was 1/4" shorter closed, did not have D2 blades and I'm not sure the sheep's foot was not given up instead of the spey in that knife.
The same as with GEC, I bought RRR to get a combination of blades that I can not get elsewhere. GEC made Stockmans that substitue a scapulae blade and a Wharncliffe blade for a stockman's usual spey and sheep's foot. I've never seen that combination anywhere else so even though I buy few GEC knives I bought a their Dixie Stockman.
I make no apology to the members who think that for a knife to be a stockman it must have a spey blade for doing unspeakable things to livestock. Over the last 50 years I've known a large number of men who carried stockmans and not a one of them worked with farm animals.

Not to get political. Not that I’m against Chinese made knives as they are getting much better in quality. I try NOT to buy a lot of Chinese merchandise as it is destroying our economy. I just can’t see paying the ridiculous inflated prices for knives. I’ve noticed that collectors knives have skyrocketed in the last couple of years. I much prefer American or European made knives.
But something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I’m an old geezer. I’ll never get my money back. At this point, I’d like my heirs to get the maximum.

I agree. They are incredibly well made for the price.
I prefer American or European makes, and most of my collection are. But I appreciate quality above all else.
The Chinese knives offered by AG Russell are EXCELLENT. Worth looking into.

Well at $10 per "R" that still only comes out to $30

Lol...correct...these RRR' s are a total different breed...better fit, finish, better steel, much better tuning ( blades at center ) and better priced then lower level GEC's...but same quality...
