Handle Material - Ironwood?

Hey Fine Folks,
Does anyone recognize this handle material? I feel like I've seen it before but just can't figure it out!

It reminds me of cactus that has been impregnated with resin. Not sure what the official name is.

I found a picture of a Cholla cactus, that’s what it is I’m pretty sure.

I agree, cholla cactus. Moore Maker had some knives made using it for handle covers. It’s pricey!
Flowers are beautiful but the thorns are wicked, hair-thin with little barbs on the “business” end. Not a pleasant experience at all. In some areas they grow into trees, or at least some species do. Around here they’re also called “walking stick” cactus.

As an Arizonan born and bred, I would say 100% cholla cactus. I live down the road from "La Cholla BLVD" and almost next to "Cholla" high school.

Is Cholla stem similar to wood ? or more light weight, not as dense ?
