Hey Fine Folks,

This Mother of Pearl Whittler has 1905-1914 W.R. Case & Sons Tang Stamp on the master blade and no pattern number. The Tangs of the 2nd and 3rd blade have TESTED XX on them. Is this the real deal or use of an older tang stamp on a more modern knife?

To me that appears to be a 6308 whittler from the 1970's that has been rehandled in pearl and restamped with the old logo. This was a common counterfeiting practice for the 08 and 83 whittlers and the 18 stockman in the 70's to early 80's.

Clues include the more modern looking blade tooling including the nail pulls, and the larger pin heads visible in the pearl hnadles.

The old adage, "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is."
