recently saw a old remington knife three blades one was a punch the main blade was marked remington ina circle and made in use around the outside with fancy letters the second blade was marked the same but plain looking letters hope that makes sence the main blade also looks to have inked on numbers on the back that look like r3185 but is hard to see my question is the handle looks like red plastic but havent seen another red remington before it has a pinned on acorn shield and the knife looks very original . is the red handle a problem? just not seen much thanks

Red handles OK. Acorn shield should indicate a punch OK. Need picture of knife to tell much more. Remington collector will probably see this and add more information.

I haven't double checked this, but one reference states that all R3185 had red Pyremite handles. I know that all my R3185's have. If the knife indeed has an inked on pattern number it must have not benn used much. It doesn't take long for the ink to wear off with much use. Sounds like it might be a real nice knife. Are you considering purchasing?

If the knife had never been sharpened and was in mint condtion, around $400. With any use the value drops quickly, I'd say in average condtion, around $100. I didn't open the blades on this knife because they are broken and /or worn completly out, its worth around $30.
