All About Pocket Knives

I did mention in my prior post that I have a newly acquired addiction to knives and I need expertise. Thusly I am going to post a few photos here of some of the knives I picked up in an auction.
Is there a knife addicts anonymous or something out there ?
Seriously, how do you guys fight the cravings.......?
ANYWAY..any knife pros or bonafide "knife nuts" (that clearly have a far greater knowledge than I) can you please lend your expert and opinions on the knives below ? Really any feedback is appreciated. thanks in advance.

# 1 Mint - Stag handmade folder by the late Knifemakers Guild member Norm Levine, front lock, stag handles

# 2 Pair of IXL knives. Metal handled relief handles Two blade 3 3/8” swell end jack and Doctors knife. Both mint except for some age specks Includes an original check from George Wostenholm & Son, Ltd.

#3 Pearl engraved and Scrimshawed IXL Wostenholm Canoe, with matching Ivory scrimmed plaque for Orgill Bros. This was taken directly off the Schrade factory collection board that was exhibited in the factory, with certificate of authenticity.

# 4 Schrade 156OT FOLDER, this is a fixed blade pattern, but a prototype made to fold, 1 of 1 from the Schrade Factory Collection with a certificate of authenticity.

Regarding photo 2.... You may have seen this information elsewhere, but in case not and for other members that may be interested, here's what I have. The top knife is shown in the early 1960s Wostenholm catalogue. Listed as model number 500 clip. Boys Knife. Iron handle. Length (closed) 3 1/4 inches. A 500 with spear blade was available as well. The second knife is shown in the 1885 Wostenholm catalogue. Model number 245 with 'Metal' handle, 3 1/4 inches, iron lined and glazed blades. Also in 3 1/2 inch and 4 inch versions. That appears to be larger version. s-k

p.s. There is no cure for the addiction. At best you might manage the symptoms and hope to live a 'normal' life. We are the support group. Good luck.

can one find 1885 Wostenholm catalogue scanned somewhere ?

Schrade IXL knives were made in the early 1980s during the brief time when the US Imperial Knife co owned the Wostenholm trade mark and made knives in Sheffield. One of the 5 patterns was a Canoe with a stag handle. However, the blade etch was different from your knife. Please show the tang stamps. s-k

In looking at the top knife more closely... It has England on the tang. Thus, while it the same pattern as that in the 1885 catalogue, your knife was made later i.e., after 1891. Sorry for any misinformation. s-k

Re., the Orgill Bros. Knife -

I have the same knife, minus the engraving and provenance. Same pearl, and same scrim, tho'. Mine is serial #142. My durn camera just rolled snake-eyes, or I'd post a pic.

It was an SFO, for Orgill, commemrating 135 years in business. Released in 1981, probably made in '80. Well-made, but the handles were glued on, not pinned. Mine fell off, several years ago.

I would pay about 10% of the opening bid for the knife. That is just my opinion. s-k

typical scam. poor pics, no compleat pics of knife, and lies. too bad we helped this seller. a link to these posts should be sent to buyer, if it sells.

I did not intend to alienate myself by doing this. please accept my apologies. I am not trying to intentionally mis lead anyone and disrespect you all on this site. hope to be able to regain favor here and save some face.

hey everybody makes mistakes. perhaps you could start by changing your listing to correct the date of manufacture. the knife is post 1891, not c1885 as s-k pointed out in his efforts to help you id the knife.

OK I just went ahead and pulled the auction and ate the listing fee
better than to have the knife world pissed off at me.
