HOWARD in a circle & rectangle - Any Info?

I recently obtained two knives with this stamp. I have had others but not recently.

I know that there is at least one Howard Cutlery that is German.

However, many years ago a collector who specialized in rare New York and New England brand names told me that this stamp - HOWARD with a circle around it and a rectangle - was used on knives made by a lesser known knife company located in upstate New York, may have been a spinoff of the Canastota Knife Company.

Any info appreciated.

Steve: I don't have any info on that particular brand but the style of the knife with the long fluted bolsters and file worked pearl handles scream German to me.Goins lists that mark as that of the C.B.Barker Co.in NY from 1880-1905.Taken over in 1905 by Weibusch & Hilger.
