All About Pocket Knives

Looking through one of my boxes of knives, this one got my attention. I suppose it could be described as a "tactical". It has some weight to it, the handle/frame is not metallic, it fires open with great snap and locks up. Here are pictures of the knife that has only U.S.A. on the mark side of the blade.
Would love to know who made and when? Just thinking it might be one of the early tacticals when they first started to be so popular years back. Treefarmer

I agree, I think it's a knockoff from overseas.
Somewhere on the Pacific Rim to be precise.

Is it an auto? Kind of reminds me of a Gerber or a Buck.

Definitely Chinese.

Cheap Benchmade copy,. I sold quite a few of those back in the day.

I have been looking around to see if I could spot another one just like this one but to no avail. However I found this one listed here on AAPK , it is listed as a clone: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... flex-clone
The knives are not identical but very similar down to the equal overall length and equal blade length. They even have the similar grooves on the handles that are slightly different shapes. One noticeable difference is the lack of a lanyard hole in the one I have.
Since some of y'all feel good about this being a copy I will step out and say that it does seem to be very well made. Very smooth action when the button is pushed and absolutely no sideways play. It is not a good looking knife by any means when closed up.

Some of the knockoff, clone, copy, whatever are very well made. My guesstimate is that it is an early knockoff 1990's.

Since it's an auto, I'm still leaning towards Gerber. Could it be a military production knife?

I have two Gerber autos, one was military issue. They don't look like this.
It's Chinese in my opinion. Phillips screws also look at how cheap the clip looks.

Yeah, there's a few red flags here . . .

Can’t say for certain but I’m guessing that it’s an import. American made knives would have the name of the maker on them. It looks like a Gerber but I’ve never seen a Gerber that was just stamped USA.
