Any recommendations with cleaning up older blades that have an acid etch on them?

Got several that can use some love, but don’t want to make things worse ref readability of any etching

I just use WD40 on a soft rag if I am really concerned about not removing or damaging an etch. It seems to dissolve any kind of dirt, hardened grease, gunk, surface rust, blood, adhesive or other foreign material that might have accumulated. Just avoid anything abrasive.

Ditto what Herb said.
Use a graphite pencil to work away ant tough gunk, WD40 and a cotton cloth to clean (use elbow grease!), and oil the joints hood when finished.
You cannot get it shiny without making things much, much worse.
And then post some pics of it when you are done so that we can all enjoy it!
