Question about a Case A62009 1/2

I got this on my Buffalo trip today thanks to a great tip from my knife pals about the shopping mall in Salamanca, New York. (Thanks PA Knives) It screamed "BUY ME!" from the display case. I have always admired Appaloosa bone handles and when you combine it with another love of mine the Barlow pattern... Then the darn lady that opened the case said it was 30 percent off
I was doomed!
Anyway, I did notice something about the blade stamp, it is partially ground off.
What I want to know is the a factory second?
I know from the GREAT research area here it is a 1980 issue, Ten Dots, Lightening "S" in the "USA", but the CASE XX is ground off.
Also the is a groove at the edge of the bolster, you can see it in the pictures.
I bought it thinking it was a second and paid accordingly, but I LOVED the scales.
