All About Pocket Knives

Thought i would startca new post as this has turned into a full restoration project, this was given to me for services done to a friends knife , sadly illegal in the uk since 1958 but will be restored and hidden in my collection , it came in bad condition , blade flicks out by itself and blade sticks out when closed, i sorted the initial problem and with advice from JJ ill sort the other issue

today i cleaned it up and did the stag scales , still got loads to do and will be taking my time as my first switchblade

Thanks guys , my 1st switchblade but a fun project, i ordered brass pin stock and got a SS pin for the main pivot and a SS pin for the bottom bolster , going to take my time on this one and get it right

Hi guys , well i took my time, i re worked the liner pushing material forward and now have no blade peak

SS main blade pin fitted like originally, brass pins to hold on the Antler, now many will noticed the wider slit for the lock, sadly the original one snapped , so i had to make a new one , it actually is more solid and works better, its tight together put i didnt over pein the main pin as i didnt wsnt it to not flick open properly, im very happy with it and love the Stag handles as im a bit fan of stag

i was a bit gutted when the tab broke off the original lock but the new one is much more solid

and to me stag makes everything pretty

Paul, to look back at the before pic's and the to look at the after pic's is truly impressive. That stag makes it a show piece. What a wonderful knife now. Congratulations.

Very impressive Paul. Congrats on bringing that old soldier back to life. You did a fine job of milling out the front cover which can be difficult without the proper machine, and your very intuitive safety invention is simply outstanding. For many years auto knife enthusiasts have complained about the safeties on their knives becoming loose and sloppy, and as a result builders came up with a new design that ensures they stay tight, and now this new system you've created might someday be yet another fix for safety problems. You might want to consider putting a patent onto it. The stag you used is nearly perfectly matched and gives your knife a teriffic appearance. A top-notch effort all round!

it was a fun project and a rare item in the uk for obvious reasons, its great to make it functional again

Thanks Marco , im almost glad the original safefy broke as im sure it would of at some point after it was all fixed together , this safety holds in place much tighter and is more solidly constructed, thanks again for your comments there appreciated

stag is my favourite material to use , not easy to work with but i love how it looks on knife handles
