All About Pocket Knives

Guys,
I have listed this fixed blade Case knife on eBay and it has created a few comments. I have never encountered this pattern before and I find noting about it by searching the web. I have discussed with some folks and have yet to find anyone who has seen the knife previously.
Is it a SFO? Is it a pattern that Case made in small quantities?
I have theorized that it is an early survival knife. There is a whistle, a hone, a ferro rod, fishing line and hook, thermometer in the handle and compass in the pommel. There are saw teeth on the blade. The sheath is leather and original, I believe. The unit is quite light in weight.
Anyone seen it before? Have ideas? Have info?

1980 was the first I know of.

It looks a bit like that early KA-BAR aluminum handled survival knife. I've never seen(or heard) of yours before though.If the same date code applies to fixed blades then it should be a 1986 issue.

It was a standard catalog item for Case, but it did not sell well.

This was during the "Rambo" knife era, when many knife companies and custom makers rushed to bring out various models of saw-back "survival" type fixed blades.

It had no pattern number (just the name "Outlander"), but it was Case product number 369 with a retail price of $63.00 in 1986.

1986 was the only price list that includes this knife, so it was only in production for a year or so.
