All About Pocket Knives

Viewed this Remington fish tail switch knife recently.

A cursory look in Remington Catalogues No. 1 and No. 5 and I see no Remington auto, nor reference to them scanning many threads here. Are they uncommon and/or very late in the production period?

Hi Stumpstalker, remington did indeed offer several models of switch blades. They were contract knives from schrade cutlery. Production was period 1930's. they are desirable to collectors. The knife you pictured is very desired but your knife is not in the best of condition. Like other knives, condition is everything.Candystripe models made by remington are highly collected. Yes Clockman is correct. These were contract knives made for Remington by the George Schrade Knife Co,(Presto) they had. Dozen or so patterns made for them this one could use a little TLC to be sure. It is still a good knife. I’d be interested should you decide to part with it.

I thank both of you for that info., and will pass it on to the owner of the knife. It is not a pattern that I collect.

I believe the owner would sell it. What are the forum rules for selling -- registration; membership; setting up a store?
