?Loose Blade Repair

I bought a Camillus Electrician's knife on EBay the other day. It was suppose to be a good knife but when I received it, I open it up and both blades are loose and has no snap. Any information on how to repair. Since Camillus went under.Thanks!

Joe, possible causes could be worn tang or spring, if it's either of these it can only be cured by a new part. Did you try oiliung the joints? Judging by your description it is an older used knife? If that's the case the action may be worn out.

Yes it is an older knife, maybe late 60's or early 70's. I haven't try oiling it yet. I see if that will help some. I think it is just worn. I' m still new to collecting.

I use to work at Camillus as a cutler. I use to see knives come in like yours. It could be a number of things. The tangs might have gotten smaller form no oil and opening and closing on the spring. That will wair down the tangs over the years. I use to replace the blades and the the knife was like new. The other thing it might be is the mid pin could be bent the worng way. If it has a siver pin in the mid. try tapping the knive on the back over the mid pin on the spring back with a hard wire. that should put some life back in to thoughs spings and make the blades tighter when it comes to walk and talk. The last thing could be a brocken blade pin,but it dosn't sould that way to me. Good luck and let me know how you made out.
