Just got this in the mail today.
The clip blade reminds me of a muskrat blade. Fit and finish is perfect.

Iβve had some of those Chinese made Marbles and they have all been top notch on quality. I like that California clip blade on that. If youβre going to have two blades of equal length I think the blade design should be significantly different and that accomplishes that.

I've got one of those folding Bowies, with reddish bone scales. Interesting design and I like the sheath too.

What steel do they use ? How does it sharpen and hold edge? How so they compare with Rough Rider?

The ones I have come out of the box shaving sharp and hold their edge very well.
I think these Marbles are made at the same factory as the Rough Ryders.

There was a time when I thought the only knife I could own was a USA made carbon steel knife. Old Timer or Case. That is still my favorite for lots of reasons but mainly because the way it sharpens. But those RR knives are hard to beat for the money. It's a good user knife to keep in my pocket and if I lose it or lay it down it's not too big a deal.
I am starting to accumulate a few shiny knives that just stay in the safe but most of my knives can go in my pocket if I feel like it.

The only green I've seen on real stag was from brass liners oxidizing and on different knives it was mold, but what the heck, I bought a Marbles green stag large Congress and usually carry it when I go to town. The odd color grew on me so I added a green stag Folding Hunter. I have no doubt that the current crop of SMKW Chinese Marbles slip joints are being stamped out and assembled with the same machines used to make Rough Ryders. The edge retention of their 440A has been decent. SMKW keeps adding more Rough Ryder carbon steel slip joints. If I was us2 I'd give his preferred carbon steel priority over which brand is stamped on the knife.
In 1972 I brought two of those "folding Bowie" knives back from France. Both were made in Germany. One is essentially the same swing guard knife and other has double hand guards integral to the bolsters. It has a cam lock between the hand guards on its back side. The cam blocks its slip joint back spring from rising. The swing guard was $25 U.S. and the cam lock was $40 U.S. The sporting goods store owner that sold them to me make it clear they were hunting/camping knives not weapons so I dislike them being called a "folding Bowie."

Beavertail,
After seeing your Marbles green stag copperhead I had to have one!! Just received it from SMKW. Fit and finish is perfect and I like the half stops.
I am going to have to stop reading all the posts. It makes me buy more knives.

Seen Marbles had the green and tortoise copperheads a while back and grabbed them. The green I carried for a good while and really like it. Both seem to be on par with the RRs.
