All About Pocket Knives

I got a wore out 194OT a few months ago and finally decided to do something about it. Here is the tang of the original blade. The backspring wore it down till it didn't even lift the spring anymore. This knife must have been used ALOT. I have another blade coming from a VERY generous member of this forum. After that time, the knife will be ready for another tour of duty.

My question is this. If you had this knife in front of you, would you leave the handles as is or deck it out in new scales, filework, etc.

First I'd lose the lock. Then I'd go with new scales and filework.

yea, i agree about the lock. i'll prolly leave it off.

if you don't plan on putting a new blade in it I'd leave it as is and either EDC it or use it for parts. I would leave the lock in in it's current state becuase if there is no tension on the blade whats to keep it from closing on your finger(s) ?

If you do intend to replace the blade I would loose the lock and put on new handles ect.

It is getting a new blade.
