All About Pocket Knives

Hi! I metal detect with my family and today my aunt came across this knife and internet searches haven’t returned much information. From what I can tell the pottery company never sold much knives under the Syracuse Pottery name but under the Camillus Pottery name so it seems like it may be rare. Anyone happen to come across one of these before? Thanks so much for any help!

Closer 2thewall, welcome to AAPK. I used to detect a lot about 20 years ago. Fun hobby. Condition is the name of the game in knives. That looks like an advertising knife, which usually are not worth much. But add the condition of the knife it is probably worth nothing. Just a pile of rust. Sorry.

As dl has said it is an "advertising knife'. Syracuse Pottery ordered the knives from Camillus Knife Co. ? and specified what was to be printed on the handles. Syracuse Pottery would then have given them as a gift to customers or suppliers, etc.

Thanks all! Value wasn’t important to me. We were more curious as to where it came from and possible time frame. I actually had similar hunches to you both about it’s origins as well. Thanks for some confirmation!
