any info on this knife

I posted this on another thread several months ago and got no response. I got this knife from the back of my Mom's kitchen drawer (she's 92). She said that she got it from the back of her grandma's kitchen drawer. They came from Iowa in the late 1800s. A friend of mine says It's pre civil war, I'm not so sure.
The knife itself is one piece, tang, guard, blade, with what appears to be ebony scales and 3 brass pins. The tang is tapered. The blade tapers evenly to paper thin at the "pointy end". I can find no marks of any kind on it. Anybody have any thoughts about it? Thanks
Bruce

Know nothing to help you Bruce, but it should be found in grandma's knife drawer. Has the look. Certainly something knice for you to treasure. ::nod::

It looks like an early Sabatier kitchen knife.Usually they were stamped on the left side of the blade a couple of inches from the wide end.
