I bought this Case knife at an online auction. It has no pattern number on it. Also in looking closely at it I wonder if it is a fake. Knife is 4 inches long. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like a bone scaled -048 from the USA (1965-1969) era, interesting there's no pattern number.

Could it have been the two-blade model at one point? Or else, Case put a blade from the two-blade model in a one-blade by mistake?

Sometimes they do get worn off, particularly if the stamp is weak to begin with. But, I don't see that much wear on the blade, and usually you see at least a small fragment of the numbers remaining. I like the theory of the wrong blade, or the secondary blade being removed at some point.
