All About Pocket Knives

I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but why are there no replacement scales for the Lionsteel Shuffler Clip Jack -- (other than those from Tools for Gents at 100 Euros)? And, since they appear easy to make, why isn't someone making them (not me -- rather a person who has some skill)?

Maybe I'm missing something but it doesn't look all that difficult to me. Unscrew the handles, replicate them in your chosen material and screw them back on. Over simplification?? Is there something I'm missing?? It doesn't look to me like it would overwhelm most home shop tools. Other opinions encouraged.

There are sections on the undersides of the handles that have to be milled to fit over the hardware on the liners. The undersides of the handles are not smooth to the best of my knowledge.

Here are a Shuffler Clip Jack and the 125 Euro shells to replace the scales on the Clip Jack. Only one place carries those custom shells -- Tools for Gents. Since a good idea is a terrible thing to waste, the new Shuffler Slim Barlow has scales that look suspiciously like the custom scales sold by Tools for Gents. So, given the fact that 125 Euros is real money, and there are lots of Shufflers out there (I think), I'm a bit surprised that some enterprising machinist isn't making shells.

Sounds like they are attempting to recoup their R&D costs for the handles.Even if they require some milling out of the undersides to facilitate mounting,I don't see why that could not be accomplished with a Dremel and a ball mill.It don't have to look pretty to work.
As an aside;if the want 125 Euros for the handles,how much is the whole knife?

Send a PM to Ivoryman...I know he has made custom ivory scales for his own Lion Steel knife.

Here are a couple I bought new. The one on the bottom has nodes over the ends of the pins. Fitting a scale over those would require hollowing out a space for the pin ends to fit into. No precision work required. Someone, presumably at the factory, took the other approach and just burred those nodes off. Either way, the only precision work required would be matching up the two screw holes. And, if you were only interested in replacing the scales and not taking them on and off, you could forget the screws and just affix the scales with a couple drops of epoxy. If I were a wood worker I would make up a bunch in different types of wood or other materials and offer them for purchase. I know I would buy a couple of sets and, over time, several more.

There ya go. I am vindicated. Unless someone comes up with something else that hasn't been shown, it ain't rocket science.
