863 in stag

So, I had this 863 that looks to be new, but the delrin covers had the notorious center pin crack that most Schrade knives have/had, so I decided to mod it. I have been experimenting with dyeing stag, so I decided to use some of that.

I'm pretty happy how it turned out. Here's some pics, with it also next to the Herman Williams 863 I have that inspired me to mod this one.

My word!!!! That is fantastic Glenn!!! The Stag is beautiful, and once again, true to form, you left no gaps at the bolsters. That Stag is right up against the metal. Man, you sure do excellent work. ::tu:: ::tu::

Nice job Glenn! ::tu:: ::tu::

I like the coloration of the 863 you did a little better than Herman's, even though Herman's is a classic!
You are doing excellent work my friend! ::nod::

excellent work ::tu:: , the darker color looks great, I watched a video one time to darken Stag and with it not smooth it looked tedious to remove any residue and the shield looks great, I'm sure that's not easy to do on a narrow piece of Stag.

Thank you for the comments. I enjoy working with stag. It doesn't always reveal what it's going to end up looking like when finished until it's done, so that part of the fun.

I have a couple of pieces I am going to slice up and see if I can get some good pieces for a couple of folders.

::tu::

DO Y'ALL ever do anything to "stabilize" the antler before you put it on a knife?
