Belknap pocket knives

Hi all,
I am a new member. I'm seeking knowledge, wish I had more to offer. I just put a knife on an online auction and I'm trying to date it. It's a 2 blade knife. Stamped on one side is BELKNAP HDW & MFG. Above that you can barely see NGLE. On the other side a star is stamped and what looks to be 00 above that. The blades are pitted, but the blades still have some snap. Any Ideas? Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. I wll post it but I have to modify because it is over 2jpg. I was looking at some of the postings. I see some people get upset about improper listings on the auctions. I think that it's ignorance of the subject but I don't think intentional. I try to post accurately but I realize I do have very limted knowledge. But, I'm trying!

most likely it's john primble, one of the stampings they used on their knives. possibly made by boker, camillus, utica, schrade or possibly others. levine's 3rd says c1947-1985
if it has stamped, india steel works, it would be pre 1940.

I tried to get a close-up of the stamping on either side of the blade. Hopefully, it gets a good enough image. Thanks again!

Stag or plastic handles

Since I'm showing my lack of knowledge, I might as well ask a simple question. Is the handle made of stag horn, which I doubt, or is it plastic? And, how do you tell the difference? Thanks!

Starrman I believe it is delrin jmo.If you rub a tooth on plastic it will slide freely. If it is a natural material, it will feel rough. This will only work with natural teeth. Practice this with known handle material and it should quickly show. Another way is to look at it under magnification (10x). Bone will have pores, plastic will not.I hope this will help.

I think the boys here are narrowing it down quite well...
It appears to be the stamp used 1940-1968...it
looks like Delrin handles (which would make it after 1960 or so, when Delrin became popular for knife handles).

I appreciate the replies. From the condition of the blade, I thought it might have been from the early days of Belknap HDW & MFG Co. I also get the idea about the difference between plastic and stag. Just as you feel a natural grit on a pearl with you natural teeth. Thanks guys, it's great of you to pass on your knowledge!
