Is there any agreement among 110 enthusiasts about versions or periods of 110 production that were better or worse?

For me after 45 years as an industrial electrician the two dot era is the best steel 440C for everyday work be it in a .110. Or a .112. Just my two cent worth

I’ve never seen a difference in the blades. Only difference is the handles. Old Macassar Ebony, laminated, or new Ebony. I like the old Ebony best.

I've owned them in 440C, 425MOD, 420HC, S30V, D-2, and 5160. For me I will take a 440C blade over any of them and I also like the old ebony handles. OH

My '68 Buck 110 had the 440 steel and was a bear to sharpen. ftd

No question about that - they are a bear to sharpen. Once you learn how though they will keep an extremely sharp edge through a lot of deer cleaning. OH

I used mine for scraping flanges, cutting wire inserted packing, opening cans, boxes, rope and sometimes mail, also slicing my finger! Was my go to friend when I worked in the engineroom in the Navy. ftd
