All About Pocket Knives

To any or all;
I have heard rumors that Bokers can be dated by the count of tree branches. Is there any truth to this or just rumor. If true might anyone supply a link to or a picture of some sort of chart.

hey mossdancer,

ive often wondered myself, if there was a way of dating boker knives and if so how, but i have never heard of that...lol. it would indeed be a neat way to go about it tho. who knows it may be true or perhaps someone here knows of a way to date them.......i would be interested in learning that myself. i have seen the new bokers that are coming out with what they call the tang stamp series and they have two different shields on them so who knows, maybe that has something to do with it. anyway, would be very interested if anyone could shed some light on it.

Yes to a degree the tree can help. Ive added a couple tree shield pics. Have a look Here but refresh if you looked at it already in Bryans post.

The Delima of Dating the Boker is compounded by so many different companys making them along with changes without much documentation. Natural and manmade disasters have lost us records as well. Many times a Boker Rep will tell you he's not sure or cant tell.

I recently saw the new double shield bokers with the country name "Alemania" on it. I thought, well a NEW knife company Boker is using. Then I saw some other knives which "appeared" older with the name too. Again the delima rears it ugly head, with a resemblance to ROCKET SCIENCE! ....at least for me

Alemania means Germany in Spanish. Perhaps German components assembled in their facility in Argentina? Just a guess on my part, however.

Thanks Hawke, This is for anyone who wants to look;
If they are intelligible here is an alemania mark and a different tree mark,
It has eight and seven. also a shield ,I believe the clip blade goes with the knife with shield, What are your thoughts.

A good guess indeed! I didnt know it was spanish for Germany. Thats gotta be a sign that its made in their Argentina factory. I believe even the older Boker USA knives got their blades, or at least steel from the German cousins, but stamped the blade with BOKER USA.

MOSSDANCER, thx for the PM, and I like those handles on the top one most I think of all boker handles. Gave 2 of them away to firends at work. Been looking for another for myself, LOL

The BOKER USA Blade will not go with a knife stamped with solingen anywhere on it, shiled or another blade. They didnt put the "Solingen" on them anywhere back then, but were still solingen steel. There is one BOKER USA stamped knife made this year thats has solingen on the shield. Its a Blue Bone and quite attractive. I had one and gave it to my Dad. They can be had for like $15 plus shipping on the right day at ebay. Not a real great spring, but the blue real bone handle is superb!

btw ...here's a boker stainless lockblade thats like 2 inches long.
