Not Playing With A Full Deck.....

On November 28 of 2020, I purchased my first and what was supposed to be my only and last, CAMILLUS playing card pocket knife. It was a King Of Hearts. Well, that didn't last long. On November 30 of 2020, I purchased my second and definitely not my last, CAMILLUS playing card pocket knife. It too was a King Of Hearts. Both have a CAMILLUS tang stamp, NOT a WESTERN tang stamp. I decided that I was going to try and put a full set together. That's a 10, J, Q, K, A, all Hearts. I knew the Ace would be the toughest to find and or obtain. So from December to, as of this posting, I have obtained the following WESTERN, made by CAMILLUS, playing card pocket knives.

Originally were these sold only as complete sets ? Or as individual knives as well ?
It looks like the King is the most common so likely sold as individual knives ?

It looks like the non-proof set knives could be purchased individually.
A pocket knife by itself in a box. Or, a pocket knife with a deck of cards in a blister pack.
I would think that the proof sets were sold as one, complete unit.
Here is a link to an ad that features the individual, non-proof set pocket knives.

Very cool collection Skip. Congrats on your find. Especially finding a mint set of all 5 with Cards and certificate

So were the single blade lock-backs produced with both Camillus and Western Tang Stamps?

Thank you Smitty.

I didn't think that they did a "CAMILLUS" stamped series,
but I have two Kings that are "CAMILLUS" stamped. So,
I have no idea how many total "CAMILLUS" stamped, playing
card pocket knives were manufactured and or released to the
public. I doubt very much that I have the only two.

I am posting the following for all posterity. This listing has ended for whatever reason. I sent a message to the seller regarding the item and I did not receive a response. So here it is, a CAMILLUS, single blade, 10 of Hearts, playing card pocket knife. It has a third and different style of tang stamp from the other two (CAMILLUS & WESTERN). It has the light CAMILLUS etch on the tang and a nice tang stamp on the other side. It reads HD-3/440 S.S./USA. There may be something under USA, but I can't make it out. The pictures are the seller's and have NOT been doctored by me in any fashion.

Those are cool, Skip.
First time I've seen these, looks like the Bicycle playing cards art work. Thanks for showing me something else to search for.

I very recently added two more "cards" to the "deck."
They didn't require any cleaning. I took some pictures
and here they are.

Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of knives with intentionally mismatched covers. These are a very neat exception to that rule.
