4 EACH MINT Case XX Stag Handle SERPENTINE JACK 52087. Each Walks, Talks and Looks like a mint. Every stag handle is chip and crack free, no rust. These mint condition 40 year old knives are from my personal collection. I am not a dealer. They has never been sharpened or carried. A very few rub marks on some blades from being opened. Some collectors will classify a very old knife that has a few rust marks as mint (especially those made prior to WWII). The newer the knife gets from there, the less rust specs it must have to maintain its mint status. In addition, most Case knife collectors are a bit stricter on grading knives. An old Case knife with any rust mark would not be considered mint.

If he is telling people to ask their questions here, about the authenticity of the knives, i would think that would be a good thing for the site. seems like it would be good free publicity too. . it seems like a whole different situation then the guy who stole the picture to try and further his own ends.

it seems to me like it would be free advertising for this site and thats always good and in my opinion, hes just stating this site as his reference for his definition of mint just as if he wouldve gotten it from a book like parkers pocket knife traders price guide, sargents, etc......just my opinion.

I agree with that, I am just looking at the other side of the coin. By looking at human nature the long term eventuallity is that we will end up getting more guys like the first, not just a copyright infringement, but someone using the name to validate their auction.

The last guy had his auction dropped because of copyright infringement, not the masses of complaints.

is the domain AAPK copyrighted?

I know that many sellers do refer to AAPK before listing knives.
Since Bryan posted my Schrade lists in the Research section, I usually get several questions per week. Often from someone wanting info on a knife they inherited from their dad or granddad, but just as often from ebay sellers wanting to be sure that they are listing a knife properly.

It can be time consuming some days, when I get 3 or 4 questions first thing in the morning, but I always try & answer them the best I can. I figure if a seller cares enough to email me with a question, it shows that he cares enough about the knives to make an attempt at accuracy. Granted I realize that some do it because they think they will get more money on the auction, but I would rather they make money honestly with a bit of work on their part, than by spouting some bs and deceiving the buyer.

It is interesting, but I don’t think I have ever seen a seller referring to any other knife forum. AAPK seems to the one that they gravitate toward. Perhaps it is because our members are more friendly & helpful than on other sites, and do not have a know-it-all attitude, even when many of them do know-it-all (or most of it) on a particular knife brand. There are many knife forums on the net, but in my opinion, there are none as friendly to the newbie as AAPK. All members, especially Bryan should be congratulated on this. Congratulations!

So, if someone on ebay quotes AAPK, and does so correctly, I don’t have a problem with it. I think it will only promote AAPK and the hobby (sport?) we all love, knife collecting.

i agree dale, i have aapk listed on my about me page and i get quite a few questions as well. as long as they are accurate.

If this site can help or keep someone from getting screwed than that IMHO, is more than worth it. We all know that its a small percentage of sellers that are out there to do nothing more than turn a fast buck (or many) So I see nothing wrong with this because e-bay does not seem to care about bull$*^@ listings! I agree Dale and Johnnie, I like to see the AAPK name assoaciated with an auction that is on the level, we just have to watch those like the first guy and old DD, or whatever his handle is now. Those that would use the name for ill gotten profit.

This does make me think that another forum may be needed for sellers using the AAPK name. This would be a good defensive forum for those that would use the AAPK name on fake or altered knives.

The reason to do this would be to seperate what we find questionable vs. those that use our name in their auction. We would have to be very careful about giving a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

I believe we better start thinking about a forum to address sellers using the AAPK name so we have some sort of input on our site if we spot knives that are not up to snuff, but the seller chooses to quote, AAPK.

I am guilty of sending E-bay buyers/sellers to this website. When I've seen an auction that had a knife listed wrong, I would talk with the seller and tell them to go to AAPK's site. I always stated to them that they could get an honest opinion about anything knife related here. Key word OPINION. I never say that everyone on AAPK's site are all pro's. Sometimes sellers just go by what other sellers have listed on a knife that "LOOKS LIKE THEIRS" and use that or they just plain out made a mistake. There are those that just out right LIE about their auction too. If an E-bayer wants to know if the knife their buying/selling is correct or just the history of it, this IS one of the best websites to visit. Once their here, they can read almost any post on here and see that if something in question isn't right, it's got a reply saying so. Almost all questions answered on here has a reference to where the opinion comes from or if asked, a reference can be given. There isn't a bunch of arguements or fights happening on this site. It's a user friendly knife website. I don't think that an E-bay seller should have "DESCRIPTION OF KNIFE BACKED BY AAPK WEBSITE" wrote on their auctions. But, should a honest buyer/seller want a true opinion, I'm proud to tell them to GO TO AAPK and ask. In the end it all comes down to the buyer/seller's decision anyway. It's up to them if they want to educate them selves or not. Now, all of this rambling I've wrote is just my opinion though.

Now, before I joined AAPK I thought I was a pretty good knife trader,
now I'm going back & cleaning out a few that I sure got my fingers &
wallet burnt off ME!! I think anytime you can get young knifers in these
forums they are getting the best inforn.out there bar none! I think it is a
win win situation! You've taught this OL' Dog new tricks!!!

I second every syllable! I once thought I was in middle school as far as collecting goes, turns out I must have slept through to many classes and have been sent back to kindergarten.

In my other hobby, Civil War Re- enacting, the "elites" tend to be very condescending to newbies. Go to the authentic campaigner web site and ask a question... I dare you! There are six guys waiting on there to post "use the search engine!" they race to be the first to yell at you for not signing your name or for asking a question wrong in their eyes.
I have been reenacting for early twenty years, before most of these yahoos were out of diapers, but I could never treat a new guy like that. I have literaly seen hundreds of potential recruits for a fine hobby bashed over the head until they quit.

This site is the exact opposite, I know some of the old timers here no doubt tire of answering newbie questions,over and over again, but I have never recieved a snippy or arrogant reply to a post here.
A kind word of instruction goes a long way with potential collectors.

Educate the masses! It can't but help!

Excellent ..I thought I was a knife collector, and have been humbled since visiting this forum. I am barely on the edge.

there are many that belong to this site i would consider "experts". i think they and the rest of us learn something valuable every time we log in. i believe any question is worth an answer. the only bad question is the unasked one. ain't this fun!
