I needed to see that today to re-assure me that there are still great people left in this country.

You notice also that he folded the flag properly, or pretty close. Its a difficult thing to do single-handedly without having a table to lay it on or a second person. Pulling Colors in the evening and raising Colors in the morning were the duties of the Duty NCO And Assistant Duty NCO at Marine Barracks Treasure Island. I was the Duty NCO or Assistant Duty NCO a couple times per week while stationed there. I always found it a moving experience whether they were playing reveille when we raised Colors or they were playing Taps when we pulled Colors. Both the ceremonies and the music were moving to me, even emotional sometimes... especially Taps. ::tear::

This man should be invited to the Inauguration of the next President of U.S.A and have all
media coverage him attending. Please no more media coverage of morons storming our capital
that occurred days ago,

A Veteran that I bet knows the price of freedom and understands the meaning of the American flag.

American character and integrity on full display.

As of 18 Jan 2021, there were 6 "dislikes" registered for this video, I can only hope it was 6 of our foreign enemies. If an American citizen happens to dislike this video and what it represents, then I'm sure it would be lost on them that the gentleman in the video would likely defend their right to express that opinion while an infuriated person like me would want to send them to another country they might like better.

Great post, Charlie. Thanks! ::marine_salute::

Dale, for the past several years at our school (K through 12 Special Needs), we've had a few students show a genuine interest and desire to raise and lower our flag. I've had the privilege of teaching the kids how to respect the flag and how to properly fold it. Most of the kids have been seniors and when they graduated, they were presented with the flag they had been flying over the school for the past year.

Not often, but every now and then Becky and I will find ourselves either going into or coming out of the Commissary at Joint Base MDL (formerly McGuire AFB, Ft. Dix and Lakehurst NAS, now all joined under one Commander) when Taps will begin. While I'll notice some folks running to duck under cover so they don't have to stop and face the music, I've always found it an honor to take a moment and reflect about what the moment means, what this country means to me, and how proud I am to have served. And, yes, my hand always goes to my heart.
Take care and God bless,

Steve

Nothing but TREMENDOUS respect and admiration for this Veteran. Lots of dust got in my eyes watching that.
