All About Pocket Knives

I recently acquired this Schatt & Morgan which is stamped:

SCHATT
& MORGAN
CUTLERY CO
TITUSVILLE PA

I've never seen this stamp before, though I haven't seen alot of S&Ms. Anyone know when this stamping was used, or if it is rare? Thanks.

Man that is a fine looking knife you got there. Is that real tortoise shell on that handle?? I sold my books on Schatt & Morgan so I'm no help but there are several others who excel in this type of information..

Thanks, unfortunatly it's not real tortoise, but it still looks all right. It was so dirty when I got it I couldn't read who made it or even tell if it was stamped, I just bought it because I liked the look and feel of it. Sure enough the quality of a Schatt & Morgan held up over the years and I wasn't suprised when I figured out what the stamp said.

Nice one AKC Goins list the mark as c1902-1928. Hopefully PA Knives or another more knowledgable than me will be along shortly to provide more information. s-k

A fine knife indeed. Your dates are correct for S&M which became Queen after a bitter transistion of foreman and workers. You have a nice collectable there. The old S&M are extremely popular in the knife market. IF you read David Krauss's book "spelling" you will see it is a very popular and now well docuemented manufacturer. Remembering that actually very few companies that have their name on the tang actually made the knives. S&M indeed MADE knives.
