All About Pocket Knives

Tried to do a translation, I don't know Spanish, but here you go. Spanish espada? Is it sharp or just decorative? Hope this gets things headed in the right direction and to AAPK!

Your Spanish translation did better than mine! I was having a hard time figuring out some of the letters, and all I could really get was "Toledo" & "de Caballeros".

I'm thinking maybe a letter opener?

That's why I was wondering how sharp the blade is.

Might be better off researching Toledo navaja.

The knife pattern is called navaja. There are numerous posts here about them. I believe the pattern originated in Spain, but there are some made elsewhere in Europe (France) and other Spanish-speaking countries (Argentina). As others have said, yours appears to be a tourist knife, as evidenced from the embellishments on the blade and handles. That doesn’t mean someone could not have carried and used it. The more commonly carried “working” versions are without the embellishments.

That is not hand engraving, the detail is acid etched and that is why it looks like wear.

Looks more like cast handles to me.

Could be cast, definitely not hand engraved or even machine engraved.

Still trying to translate this side.
