All About Pocket Knives

I picked up this badly abused knife and I'm planning to convert it to a 225 Son of a Gun. I've got a new Schrade factory blade and the Schrade factory saw blade so it's just a matter of modifying the one spring a bit and it should all go together nicely (famous last words ).
I'm doing the handles in a light brown canvas micarta.
I'll post a few photos when its done.

From abused and ready for the scrap pile to a respectable, useable knife. It turned out pretty good.
It would have been an easier conversion if I had another one to use as a reference but I managed to get by with a few photos that KJ had posted a long time ago. Just gotta run it through the ultrasonic cleaner for a few minutes and oil the joints and it should be ready to go.

That turned out great Jeff! I like the Micarta handle material for a nice color contrast with the metal parts.

Come next month, when funds are available, I think I'm gonna get this one. I've been looking for a stock Son of a Gun for ages. You can find tons and tons of the sawblades and locking liners, but never a complete knife. So, one's best bet is just to make one out of a 225/25OT with those leftover parts. And if I do find an original, I can just buy that one and put it away. Micarta is more durable and better looking than that same old sawcut Delrin.

Great job! I think that sheepsfoot blade (aka what's left of the clip main) would make an interesting secondary.

Amazing transformation!

That canvas Micarta is the bee's knees, excellent job!

One thing I was just noticing... (not that it matters a whole lot)......
The 225 OT "son of a gun" has a liner lock for the saw blade. So, the frame must be like the 125 OT.
That is the only difference I see.

Good to know Mike! I didn’t think about the liner lock.
The other thing I noticed is that the last tooth on the saw blade partially blocks the lanyard hole (which is probably why they didn’t put a hole in the factory models). I could remove that tooth I suppose or just leave it as is.

Like I said, that knife looks great!
The 225 OT and the 97 OT buzz saw trapper were the only 2 that had the saw.
Those saws are well designed. They cut GOOD!
