All About Pocket Knives

Some fishing knives I've managed to accumulate over the years.Most are not your run-of-the-mill knives but rather some oddballs that were created out of some very obviously fevered minds. Hope you enjoy them and please feel free to post some of your oddball fish knives.
#1 A group of five so-called,"floaters" i.e.: knives with cork handles that supposedly will float if you accidentally drop them overboard.I haven't tried them yet.Top to bottom:Lunawerk Italy-Japan-KA-BAR-Colonial-Cressi Italy.
#2 "Angler's Pal" similar to the Fred MacOverland multi-tools of the 1950's.
#3 Benchmark "Argonaut" a Blackie Collins design.
#4 A unmarked knife(probably Cattaraugus)with a fish scaler back and a pig's head emblem on the handle.
#5 A Cattaraugus floating fish knife.
#6 A double bladed fish scaler that dis-assembles for cleaning.
#7 "Fish Fear Me" scaler and tape measure.
#8 Folding floater that operates like a Barry Wood folder with gaff built into top of blade.
#9 a Fred MacOverland fish tool.
#10 another different Fred MacOverland fish tool

Nice pile knife7knut, there are alot there that I have never seen before. Here are some pics of the ones I have that don't match any of yours.

I also have several of the Overland multi-tools, and have seen others that I couldn't afford, so far no two are alike.

knife7knut,,,,,I traded for this floater a few years back,,your post reminded my feeble mind I had one... double edge,serrated, stainless.
never could find anything about it ,,age etc. I think the hole in the handle was for a compass not sure ,,,thought maybe you could enlighten
me if it has another purpose. I traded for it because I liked the Etch. Thanks

The Imperial is another shell handle variant I haven't seen before.They are indeed nice knives.
The whale emblem I believe is for Elosi Germany.
That Lorelle reminds me a lot of the Cutco hunters I have with the serrated blades.
I also have one of those fish bonkers.
The Waltco is similar to the Hemming Fisherman I have but the Hemming has a gut hook point.I'll try and post more.
That Puma I believe is an oyster shucker judging from the size and shape of the blade.Gotta be a rare one;don't recall ever seeing one in any of my Puma catalogs.

I think the hole is likely for a restraining strap to loop around your wrist.As I said before I think it is an oyster shucking knife judging by the blade shape and size.A strap would be handy as shucking oysters can get really messy and slippery.I've never seen that in any Puma catalog I have. Nice score!

#7 Showing two different knives with one set at 6 inches and the other at 9 inches.Blade is adjusted by pulling out the black tack near the front of the handle and sliding the blade in or out.
#8 The two blades reversed.
#9 G-96 Jet Aer folding fillet knife.
#10 Hemming Fisherman balisong with gut hook point.

Still Samoa fishin' stuff:
#1 Imperial Fisherman's Favorite coke bottle .
#2 Imperial hunter with fish scaler false edge.
#3 Imperial Sportmaster with tungsten carbide blade edge.Supposedly never needs sharpening.Tungsten is almost as hard as diamonds.
#4 A small Japanese knife with a fishing lure for a handle(less hooks).
#5 Coke bottle folder by Paris Bead Chicago with short master blade.Bolsters are stamped from the liners.
#6 Puma fish bonker with scale
#7Townsend fish scaler;another wacky fish scaler of questionable worth.
#8 Unmarked fixed blade with blade almost identical to the aluminum handled folder I previously posted.The handle I made from a piece of Lexan tube.

Nice group Ray!! For some reason fish knives are not that popular but I too have a lot of them. The KA-BAR and Catt fixed blades you show are pretty rare knives. I also have a Catt with a blade like the KA-BAR. For folding fish knives my favorite was a Robeson bone handle single blade with Robeson's unique bolster/liner lock but I sold it a few years back.

KA-BAR AND marbles tri-fold fishknives.

Not many of the tools shown would be up to the task either. Big fish get filleted and the skin cut off the fillets. At least that’s how we do it in the North East.

Not many of the tools shown would be up to the task either. Big fish get filleted and the skin cut off the fillets. At least that’s how we do it in the North East.

Yes Ed, we skin big fish too unless they are going into the smoker, then they get scaled and we do smoke good sized stripers.

Those old IMPERIAL, tin shell, plastic covered ones were a dollar on a card at the bait stores.
A KA BAR T29, a U.K.& R., and a BOKER/SCHRADE J.O'.

A few KA-BARs, the bottom one with the liner lock and scaler on the inside of the blade is the only one I have seen. I like the Zane Greys, 2nd down is an Abercrombie & Fitch, fourth down has salesman's ink. Top knife has Patent Pending in celluloid.
