Looking to replace my fathers long loved Kershaw double cross for Christmas. Sadly it’s not made any more. Anyone have a suggestion for a similar knife? Blade style, design, opening knobs? Any help would be appreciated

You can find the original Double Cross on eBay occasionally, from lightly used to mint in box condition. They’re not cheap but you can get one if you’re patient and watch for one. ::tu:: Sorry I don’t know of another knife like it with wharncliffe and clip blades, thumb studs on both blades. Someone else may know, or have one for sale (I don’t see any in the AAPK stores currently).

Welcome to AAPK.

First, here's a variant of the Double Cross that should go for cheaper than the Double Cross shown. I think the Double Duty is a Double Cross basically; but with a spey blade in place of the Wharncliffe.

The Byrd Wings Slip-It I chose as an alternative when I freaked out at Double Cross prices. It's got a sort of sheepsfoot straight edge blade, and a serrated sheepsfoot serrated blade. Discontinued for a while now, but I picked up one on eBay new, but factory second (not sure what was the problem--knife is fine) for $40 earlier this year. There is a bigger one on eBay right now (the 4.75" BY20 with locking blades); but the seller wants $75 and the condition is poor.

The Cold Steel Lucky has better steel (CPMS35VN); and is reasonably priced at $65. But smaller at 3 1/4" closed, however. And NOT one-hand opening or locking; as it's designed to be legal in most places; even those with really restrictive knife laws.

Thanks all. I’ve seen the eBay listings but it’s a can’t justify the premium. I’ve actually owned the variant as well but it’s actually a much larger knife on the verge of too large to call a classic pocket knife.

That said I know know the name of the smaller blade so I’ve come out ahead.
