Getting Case to repair but not under warranty

Anybody ever sent a knife to case to repair something not covered by the warranty? I recently had case repair a 6318 under warranty and they were great...fixed it and it came back looking awesome. I've seen others here call it the spa treatment....beautiful...pictures won't do it justice.

I have a 6231 from my papa's dresser drawer that looks like it was run over by a truck or smooshed somehow. The blades still have fairly good snap, the main clip wobbles a good bit, chip in the handle but not enough to bother me. Seems it would be simple for someone that knew what they were doing to "fix it up" and I think Case will repair stuff and say they charge a reasonable fee.

I'm just starting to think I might want to try my hand at repair and restoration but really dont want to use this knife as my first try. Anyone have any knowledge to share?

Thanks in advance....really enjoying the site and learning

All of my repair jobs by Case have been non-warranty repairs. Just go to the Case web site www.caseknives.com, scroll down to warranty & repairs and follow the prompts, which will get you here https://caseknives.com/pages/warranty-r ... quest-form. Fill out the form including your email address, check non-warranty repair. Add photos of your knife p and submit the form. Case will evaluate whether they can repair your knife and reply. Your pattern is not currently in production so they may not be able to repair it depending on what it needs. If you want the blades replaced and they can do it, they will be blades from
current production - they do not have a stock of old parts. If you just want the handle covers replaced they can probably do it but you may get a glued in shield. You’ll need to specify what you want in the description, and see what they say. That long pull master blade is probably gonna be difficult for anyone to replace.

On the jobs they’ve done for me the materials and workmanship have been excellent and the cost reasonable. The communication is a little lacking though - the last time I got the repaired knife back a couple of days before I received their email saying it was being shipped.

If you change your mind or Case can’t do what you want, the way you want it, there are plenty of good mechanics here on AAPK.

Thanks y'all...yeah what I would like is to keep everything the way it is...blades...handles even with the missing piece... but just not crooked smooshed and no more wobble in main blade....I definitely will contact Case and see what they say because was real happy with their warranty repair...a really good experience with them

Also would consider someone here to fix it if possible...I'm sure there are fine folks here that would know what to do
