All About Pocket Knives

Saw a oil stone at the resale shop today. The wooden box it comes in is almost
perfect condition. The 2 grit stone does not appear to have any valleys or chips
in it but is very oily,dirty, and seems to have a lot of metal residue on it. Is this
easy to clean? How do you go about cleaning it?

I've used hot water, dish soap, and a scrub brush.
That'll get most, if not all, the oil out, then you have the option of using water or oil for your lubricant.

Dawn will get the oil out of the stone

Ultrasonic, is my first choice. However, not having one...I'll occasionally run mine through the dishwasher. Wouldn't do it that way, if it's attached to the wood.

The worst thing that can happen is to drop it and it breaks.

But the up side is now you have two........or maybe three.

As stated, warm water soap, dish washing liquid and a good scrub. If it was me and it looks old, i would give it an overnight soak in Mineral Turpentine, it helps remove soaked in oil. Good pick - up though.
