All About Pocket Knives

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum and don't know if this is the correct place to put this so, I'm sorry if it's in the wrong place. I was recently cleaning out a closet at my grandfather's house after his passing and came across a few knives. Knowing NOTHING about older, antique knives, I've been searching the internet in an attempt to find out anything I can about them. I've been able to find exactly on Ebay link to a knife that looks very similar to these, but not much else. Any information that anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Pictures posted below. Thanks in advance for any help provided!!

Awesome knives that date to the turn of the century. Quite valuable and they look to be in excellent condition. Can you tell us exactly how the blades are stamped?

WOW!!! Those are doubly shocking gorgeous!!!

Platts Jumbo swellcenter elephant toenail pattern.The bone handled one appears to be missing it's pen blade.They made a single blade model,but it was an esay opener. ::tu::I would be interested if you have a mind to sell them.

Nice old knives!! A lot of knife history there.

Both knives were produced between 1900 and 1905 after the passing of Charles Platts the founder of the co. The late Scott King had huge knowledge of these particular knives and a fine website as well. Here is a link to the site, I am not sure which links will work or not. I have spoken to Scott and he had a wealth of knowledge on these knives. I believe several years ago he sold the entire collection to support his children through college.

Scott passed away a few years ago.

P.S..Sorry,you did say late,my mistake.I knew Scott well,met up with him at several different shows and at the Case celebrations a couple times.He did the auctions there.
I have owned about 20 of these,either marked C Platts or W R. Case.

I've been traveling for work and haven't been able to check back in on this thread. The screen is WAY too small to try to read on my phone. To answer a couple of the questions: My wife found these in a box of stuff that belonged to her father. He passed away 2 years ago. She was really close to him so all his stuff sat in the basement until about a month or 2 ago when she decided to go through it. These were the only 2 things down there we couldn't find any information about. When I searched for it, all I could find was a bunch of Case stuff. After reading some of the comments, I see why now.

I saw that somebody asked how it is stamped? I am guess they're asking how the name is stamped in the blade? If so, it looks machine stamped to me. It's pretty deep in the metal. If that question is referring to something else, I apologize.

Yes, a picture of the way the blades are stamped or the exact written wording would help and have some effect on the values. Awesome pair of knives.

The blade is stamped C Platts Sons (something)D PA if that further answers that question. I can't see what comes before the PA because it is obstructed by where the blade is attached to the knife. The last letter of the word is "D" that I can see.

ELDRED, PA, I suspect.

She found a couple of those also, but in the same boat as far as knowing anything about them.
