All About Pocket Knives

The bad thing about Schrade LB7’s is that they have large, heavy bolsters that quite often get used as hammers.
The good thing about Schrade LB7’s is that they have large, heavy bolsters that are thick enough to remove the previous “hammer” damage with lots of bolster material left to use.
I had previously cut three or four sets of Micarta handles for the LB7 and just didn’t like any of them. I tried another set today and they turned out pretty good (bone colored linen Micarta). Lots of file work on this one and I still have some things left to do. The new Schrade factory high polished blade is gonna look great in this one!

Liners, back spring, bolsters, wow that is a fancy one. Those handles are perfect for it.

I'm not a big fan of filework, but that is a dang nice looking knife!

The file work takes a lot of time. And since I’m not working from a pattern it’s one of those “let’s try this and see how it looks” kinda processes.
The LB7’s and the LB5’s are good candidates for this type of customizing because they have a lot of metal to work with.
I’ll eventually get back to doing some regular knife mods but for now these larger knives keep me interested.
