old Northfield folding knife

Has anyone ever heard of a northfield knife? It was my Grandfathers, I came across it after he died in an old drawer. Someone told me this knife was what soldiers used the civil war. I don't have a website to post a pic but would be more than happy to email a pic. of it if anyone is interested in helping me identify it.

My book says that Northfield knives were made from 1858-1919. And that it was a Connecticut based company. They make a 5 star knife of exceptional quality, and should have considerable collector interest.

Nice knife...
Going by the flat head of the knife, with what appears to be a metal "seal cap", I'll go with a hawkbill Pruner...that has lost it's bill, so to speak, over time. See Levine's Guide #4...pg. 195...for a
similar knife. Looks to be in otherwise good shape.
As always, JMO.

I wouldn't clean that knife...just a little mineral oil.
