All About Pocket Knives

Well I had a feller come to the house this evening and want to trade me a few goodies. 1) a 1973 Case Muskrat, in used condition 2) a Pre 1982 Fight'n Rooster, Poorly rehandlede and 3) a Camillus, in like new condition that I have no clue as to the value of. what makes you say the rooster was a poor rehandle, looks good from here?

The handles stick up past the bolsters a little. Who ever did the work they didn't round it on down. it' was no where near the quality of your work MM.

I have some jigged bone handled german knives that are hafted that way, I have some german knives with stag handles the same way, just a trait of some modern German knives I guess.

Jody, I believe those are the original handles. I have had some old Fight'n Roosters that the handles stuck up higher than the bolsters too. I think yours is one of the very early Roosters.

I collect old Eye Brands and their early knives had the non-tapered handles. I think it must be a trait of the German knife.

Fatman, Very Nice! I have an old Sears Craftsman Stockman

that looks similar to your Camillus Stockman. I don't know if it was made

by Camillus or Schrade?

I particularly like that muskrat, its got character!

The muskrat appears to have delrin handles, which are the least desireable, but very practical. Good old CV blades. Less than $20 depending on snap, tightness etc. IMO.
Camillus knives have bumped a little since the closing and sale, but that model still only brings $15-20 at most.
I'll leave the FR to someone who knows more.
