All About Pocket Knives

This Diamond Edge, Shapleigh Hardware knife was on it's last leg. Moderate wear on blades...but I figured there was enough blade left to give it a makeover. Both blades are stamped with the Shapleigh logo. I read from a prior post from Ray (Paladin) that somewhere in the mid 1940's they went to only stamping the main blade. The advertisement is from the 1936 Shapleigh catalogue; although, the color of the celluloid is different.
Reprofiled the main blade tip a bit; but, didn't really clean the blades up. It took a good edge.
Makes for an OK 5th pocket / gentlemen's knife; although, I'm a bit ambivalent to the blue camel bone.

It seems pleased with the blue camel bone.

For the heck of it. Although, they do provide some additional retention...I was just playing around. Can't stray too far from heretical (gotta read the fine print, signature line...I'm legally covered).

I haven’t worked with camel bone yet but it’s on my list! Great color saturation on this one!

My limited work with it...seems to be very variable on the saturation and areas often are very shallow...so I thinned the slabs, from the back, in order to not have to remove too much from the viewing surface. You can see how the hafting areas are nearly white. I didn't want large patches of white, for this one.

You know, it seems like the dye saturation on ANY bone is the luck of the draw. I have gotten some pieces of just ole cow bone that were dyed nice and deep and then the next piece will just be barely past the surface.
