This is just a spey blade mod on a #47 stockman. I never could find an application for the heavily rounded spey blade, so I "pointied" it up some and took most of the belly out of it ... think it'll work out better for the limited work I do. Put it next to an unmodified #47 that may be on the chopping block next if I like this mod for comparison ...

Waste of a perfectly good spey blade! Probably the blade I use most on my 47. Perfect blade for slicing open bags of all kinds and slicing the tape used to seal boxes, all without puncturing or damaging the contents.

To each his own. I can’t complain too loudly though - I’m no fan of Wharncliffe blades myself.

Your mod on that spey blade is a lot more pleasing to the eye... so I am going to cast another vote FOR the new look of your blade.
The deep belly on the original blade just don't fit my fancy. But your mod looks useful and artistic. I like blades that have a slender flow to their lines.
Short, stubby like blades have never looked good to me. I have seen some fixed blades that look terrible and almost look broken and re-tipped... (yuck!!)

Sometimes a slight modification results in a big difference in looks. Well done.

Speys on stockmans don't bother me. They get used. Sometimes that curve fits just right in certain spots when I'm whittling. And, as Ken said, good for slicing open a box with reduced risk of cutting into the contents.
Speys on trappers do bother me. Too long for my liking. But that's me.

Now, if one is going to modify a spey, that's how it should look when it's done. Good job.
