How do you obtain one of these and does it cost money???

if it's what i think it is,you have to apply to your state for it,and it gives you a tax ID number.i assume a fee is involved,as it has the government involved. . if its not what i think it is, just ignore this.

My State (VA) you can do it on line. Each month you have send (Mail or internet) the sales form in even if you don't sell anything.

Lotsa of paper work here if you do instate sales and you got to send in what you collect.

THey should just get rid of all this paperwork!!! dam goverment well I need this in order to get a wholesale catalog.

Resale certificate or licence in our case. The seller is supposed to collect state sales tax and remit to the state.
I'm not sure what you do if anything for out of state sales, where the buyer is from a different state than the seller. I'm sure the Franchise Tax Board will be happy to answer any questions you have.
Just asked my wife; here it's the State Board of Equalization that you report sales tax to.

Thats great isnt it,!?!?! this has been my experience dealing with them that some worker know and some don't.
