All About Pocket Knives

I got this unbranded switchblade in 1969. A friend in high school has family in El Paso and he told a bunch of us that for $10 he would bring us back switchblades when he visited over Summer break. True to his word he delivered! I carried this through my misspent youth and sometime over the last 50 year's the spring broke. I put it in a box with other broken knives until this week. I wonder if I could fix that thing?

I tore it apart (wasn't hard, these things are cheap) and took the spring out of a Ruzzito Estilato that my brother had trashed. I'll never use it but it's fun to have it back in working condition!

When I was carrying it, it was illegal as all get out but teenagers know it all... I tried to post a video of it firing but could only post pictures for some reason.

This was the easiest knife I've repaired to date. Just cut & fit the spring and pin it back together. I thought about new handles but that would have been wrong!

Great work Byrd! And, a great story! I have always worried that automatic knives were a bit too complicated for me to mess with, but now I may rethink that.

All I did was take it apart and replace the spring I cannabilized from another knife. The button & safety were fine. Since it's a picklock there's no spring pressure. I'm glad I didn't have to mess with the button. Since it was already broken I didn't have much to loose!

LOL.... I had a friend that had one like yours and he brought it to school. We sat in the back of class (naturally) and he would take it out and "CLICK" open it in class! I'm surprised we weren't suspended even once in our hoodlum days!
