I have been thinking about getting a Schrade 18OT USA era 1 blade knife. There are several on eBay.
How would you compare it to say a 80's Case knife in construction and blade quality?

It's one of the Schrades on my list that I want to get, and see how it carries. Basically, it is a Peanut with a locking blade.
Most of my Schrades are from the 1980s and 1990s. The quality is pretty good. I seem to see a lot of variation in the 1980s Parker-era Case. I've had (on new knives, which were never before taken out of boxes)--warped blades, no snap, and it seems brittle backsprings are a BIG problem. A few are just fine. The only one I actually use is a 62031LHR from '87 that Camillus made. And it's pretty much what I expect out of a #27 from Camillus.
