Help With Knife Identification Please & Thanks!
Help With Knife Identification Please & Thanks!
This big knife was part of a large lot of oldies that I just purchased. I don't have a clue or even know where to start researching it. I think the scales are jigged bone and am not sure if the bolsters are steel or cast iron. I don't see even a hint of a tang stamp on either side. The lockback works fine and I find it interesting that there is no "pull" or "nail nick" on the blade. But, I have no trouble opening it. Any hunches, theories, conjecture or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Ken, no problem! Just send me a padded envelope with a couple of "bennies" inside and I will mail it back to you.petesknives wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2020 10:28 pm Send it to me, in about 15 years or so I will give you answer

Doc, I agree. I don't know how far back lockbacks go, but I think this one looks really old to me too. Just hoping I can find out who made it and about when. Thanks.

Cool find, Herb. But not a clue.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Could it be home made? If it is it's done by a serious craftsman. The size and lack of nail nick kind of say garage made to me. whatever it turns out to be it's mighty nice. Thanks

The blade looks to be a hand made replacement.

The blade shape reminds me of this Enos Furness Barlow I have. But your knife looks to be much bigger.
