All About Pocket Knives

I need some help identifying the approximate age of this ideal. The tang stamp didn’t match any two line stamp I’d seen. Maybe the blade has been pushed into the handle some? Anybify seen this stamp before? Thanks for your input. 5 3/4 in blade, 1/2 in nut.

Just from the thin spacer packs the knife is pre-1920 or close to it. Somebody sure used it and re-profiled the blade a bit. Must have been gorgeous when new with the thin multiple spacers and stag pommel.

Thanks Gunsil, I think that’s right on, the Marbles catalog says the model 45 last year with the stag pommel was 1918 and that is the first year of the Marbles 3 line stamp so maybe this is a rare year. I guess the third line of the stamp must be under the hilt and this is a 6 in knife shortened over the years and the nut has been tightened to pull the blade in some. I had just not seen that in other vintage marbles knife, but judging from the blade use maybe not surprising.

It is interesting how short the ricasso is. Have you had the blade apart from the handle? Not recommending you do it, just wondering.

Nice early knife as Gunsil said. Not All that unusual for these early knives to have the stamp very low on the hilt and only partially visible.

I have not had the knife apart, it is very tight and solid, so I haven’t fooled with it.
It is very sharp as are all of these marbles knives. Incredible for a 100 year old knife, tells you a little about the quality of these Marble knives.

Thanks; I am red in the face; I actually knew that but this old-age thing can make me look pretty dumb sometimes, and I had a good start on that already. The laugh is on me.
